Jamie Herman is the Director of Taxation and has worked in accounting and tax groups ranging from small to large sized public accounting firms. He specialized in taxation (income tax and commodity tax) where he has been involved in domestic and international tax planning and compliance.
His experience encompasses a diverse client portfolio including estate planning and corporate reorganizations for high-net worth individuals and owner-managers, foreign corporations operating in Canada, and individuals immigrating to and emigrating from Canada. He is someone with big firm experience who can address any situation but with that small firm personable feel.
Jamie has authored numerous publications for the Canadian Tax Foundation and presents regularly on tax topics to other professionals.
Jamie graduated from York University with a Bachelors of Administrative Studies specialized in Accounting. He later graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Master of Taxation degree. He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and the Canadian Tax Foundation. He has also completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants’ In-Depth Tax Course, Part 3.
Jamie contributes back to his community as a volunteer for the annual free tax clinics and is an active squash member of the Toronto Cricket Skating & Curling Club. Formerly a top Canadian Racketlon player, he had the opportunity to be the only Racket Sport Specialist for the London 2012 Olympic Games. On his spare time he enjoys reading tax publications, spending time with friends or family, and watching the latest movies.
